AMERICAN SIGN LANGUAGE (ASL) - Come learn the basics of ASL and how a different community communicates with and relates to the world around them.

ART - Come explore various Art Mediums with super talented, professional artists Cindy Fedor and Julie Olsen. From sculptures and watercolor to sketching, shading, and scaling with photographs, you will leave inspired and equipped to continue to create with your own artistic flare.  This class will be taught in multiple age groups. New this year, we will focus on amazing illustrators throughout history who have brought to life the stories we love.

CODING - Computers are an essential part of our economy and many jobs require at least a basic knowledge of computer programming. Come learn how to code (without actually using a computer) by learning the history, science and math behind the computer. Towards the end of the second semester, students will use a computer to input the code they have written during this class.

DANCE PARTY - This class will be for all ages and will start off your student's day with movement and social fun with their friends, both old and new. We will focus on group dances, party dances, line dances - all designed to boost your confidence, get everyone moving and making memories together, and prepare the 12+ age group for upcoming social functions and transitions.

ENGINEERING MAKERSPACE - This class will be a hands on project-based "Makerspace" style class. Throughout the course, students will receive unique, age appropriate missions/challenges and learn key problem solving and engineering strategies to help them accomplish their goal. They will also utilize teamwork and learn different roles that are important in the engineering process to brainstorm, create, troubleshoot and revise their projects. Fun examples of projects will be creating a structure that holds a certain weight, racing an object a certain distance and building the tallest tower using only items provided for the day!

ENTREPRENEURSHIP - All lessons will be tailored to the 3 age groups with more work required of the older children than the younger ones. Each week will cover a different aspect of owning and operating a business. An opportunity to sell products and services will be provided during the Spring Home School recitals and at the youth theater performances at The Ziegfeld Theater during the summer and fall of 2022.

I LOVE AMERICA AND THE 50 STATES - This year we will learn about each of the 50 states in the United States of America! We will be able to identify states and their capitols through stories, songs and poems. They will feel a greater love and appreciation for the freedom we enjoy, the foundation of that freedom, our Founding Fathers, the men and women who make it possible still, and each person's role in creating this "land of the free, home of the brave."

LITERATURE: FROM PAGE TO STAGE - We love to read our favorite books over and over and then see them adapted into our reality either on stage or screen. This class will teach your student how to take great books and write script adaptations. There will be many projects during the class including writing a script from a favorite book, studying book to script adaptations and converting classic tales to scripts. Note: This is a Scholar class.

MATH GAMES - We are excited to continue our awesome Living Math class through the memorable stories of the Math Start series and hands-on Math Games. The students will experience hands-on practice of math facts and concepts  through interactive math games, songs, and competition.

NATURE SCIENCE AND JOURNALING - Come learn through Journaling, Art, and Stories about the world around you! We will use the Draw Write Now curriculum and living books to study animals, habitats, and seasons in this interactive Elementary Science class.

PRE-K CLASS - This class combines all the skills needed to succeed in later school years with all the fun of a group play date! Includes storytelling, math, reading, writing, songs, games and so much more! Designed for the younger siblings of students in our older homeschool classes.

SPANISH - Come learn to speak in Spanish from an instructor whose first language is Spanish. This language is full of beauty and is used by many people around our country and world.

STORYTELLING (Arts Track) - Come make Literature and History come alive through our incredible Storytelling class! Students will study poems, fables, short stories, and literature that both reflect on and have helped shape American History. The character of a country is often found and learned better through its stories and traditions than any other method. Students will move from reflectors to creators over the course of the year. They will also learn simple ways to perform for the purposes of persuading, entertaining, and informing audiences through games, vocal strategies, and performance techniques. They will then take their creations and compete at our December 8 Storytelling Festival for the opportunity to represent the Homeschool Community at the Weber State Storytelling Festival in February 2022.  They will also get to perform their re-tellings and/or original creations at an additional Recital. Students who qualify for the Storytelling Festival will also receive one-on-one mentoring with our teacher, an award-winning, professional Storyteller.

STORYTELLING (STEAM Track) - This class combines the amazing art of Storytelling to explore the history and long term impact of key historical figures and their discoveries/inventions that changed the world! This year we will have an emphasis on Pre-Industrial and Post-Industrial age historical figures. Students will also learn through storytelling the autobiographical nature of an individual's story including their character, significant historical events, places, and influences of their time. Students will create a 3 minute story style presentation of an inventor/scientist of their choice. Theater style costuming, scientific focus, and characterization will make this writing project unforgettable! In addition, students will learn history through reading and researching their stories and end the year writing and recording their  own stories and history

U.S. GOVERNMENT ROCKS - This year we will learn about each of the 50 states in the United States of America! They are unique and our Constitution separates their rights from that of the Federal Government. Why? We will discuss why this was  important to our infant nation and why states rights are still protected today. We will learn about each state’s capitals, their differences in government, architecture, culture, and history. We’ll discuss what binds us as Americans even though we live in these different places. We’ll remember all the states through songs and ask students to present a State Bio!

YOUTH THEATER - Continuing our tradition of creating a youth program that builds self-esteem and confidence through the performing arts, we are excited to offer a Homeschool Youth Theater production opportunity through two performance series during the year. The first semester will feature a showcase based on the works of Roald Dahl such as James and the Giant Peach, Matilda, Willy Wonka and The BFG.

During the second semester, Horton the Elephant, the Cat in the Hat and all of your favorite Dr. Seuss characters spring to life onstage in Seussical JR., a fantastical musical extravaganza! Our youth shows are taught by dedicated professionals and treated with the same care and attention as our main stage shows. Not sure performing is your child's thing? You might be surprised by how much fun they'll have. However, exclusively for our Homeschool Group, we will also incorporate many aspects of Theater Production: Stage, Technology, Sound, Lights, Costumes, Makeup - they will NOT be disappointed and will have an experience they will never forget.

KID'S THEATER - Continuing our tradition of creating a youth program that builds self-esteem and confidence through the Performing Arts, we are excited to offer a Homeschool Kids Theater production opportunity that will combine short skits and acting ensembles during the first semester with musical theater and Magic Treehouse Pirates Past Noon during the second semester.

Our kids shows are taught by dedicated professionals and treated with the same care and attention as our main stage shows. The Homeschool Kids Theater program is modeled after our popular afternoon Minis program. Selections from the full show are taken and memorized, choreographed and performed along with the Homeschool Youth Theater program's production.
